Belmonte de Miranda is a council in Asturias , at north it borders on Salas, at east on Grado, at west on Tineo and at south on Somiedo. The capital town of the Council is Belmonte.

Belmonte is 200 kilometres above sea level. The council is 56 kilometres from Oviedo, capital town of Asturias.

The council is an important enviromental area.

The National Park of Somiedo is in the south west . The borders of the park now are expanded towards Belmonte on account of the beauty of the landscape and the diversity of trees such as oaks, beeches, chestnuts....

From the the south to north, the council is fown by Piguena river . You can practice fishing in this river mainly trouts. Piguena river is tributary of Narce river, the most important one to catch salmon.

The south west part of the council belongs to National Park of Somiedo. In this park we can find and enjoy the typical forest of oaks and chestnut. In upper part we also find ferns. This is the house of roe deer, wolves, foxes, and some brown bears. The salmon, king of the river is finding one of his last redoubts in the clear waters of Narcea river. The beauty of this river and the abundance of salmons (the most prodigal inSouthern Europe) made it to the Paradise of many devotees to fishing. In Piguena river the main fish is trout.

Place to visit:  
  • La Torre de Quintana. It is a three stories building restored . It i sbuilt in stone masonry, with a widw ashlar a several loopholes and different sort of windows. In the upper part part there is a jutting out protection. The Palace of Cienfuegos, on the banks of Pigüeña is a Historical Artistic Monument of the seventeenth century. It is a palace-house typical of local construction, unadorned sculpture, only with a shield on the front. Rectangular building with four facades, courtyard, rear tower and chapel. On the main facade is symmetrical with balconies, wide door and lintel, on her coat of Cienfuegos. In the rear facade emphasizes the tower with the door in the center and above a rectangular balcony ledge. On the original cornice has risen a third floor. In the yard, the wooden balcony is supported by stone columns with capitals of flat faces. The Chapel is on the far right, is square and covered with roof. Exterior undecorated except for an arch over the door and two small windows on the sides. The whole is built with masonry.

  • San Martin Church The Church of San Martin de Leiguarda, with fifteenth-century origins, but enlarged in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, and added the porch in the nineteenth. Most notable is the cover arch voussoirs cut in large and framed by arch panels strung with beads. . The Church of San Bartolome de Miranda, is easy with a nave and two chapels of the seventeenth century.
  • Belmonte Court The Court of Belmonte, promoted by Dona Concha Heres, wife of an emigrant to Cuba. The building was constructed in 1926, mountain style, with two floors and corner tower. As a curiosity, Heres Concha not donated, it was leased as a courthouse.
  • La Fragua Romana "The Machuco", an ancient watermill.

Belmonte de Miranda is the perfect place to get away from the city and enjoy nature.
